We are located in downtown Stephens City, at 5291 Main Street. Take Interstate I-81, exit 307, and go west two blocks to the traffic light (intersection of 277 and US 11). Turn right (north), and the church is two blocks on your left. Parking is available in the rear of the building.

If you were unable to schedule a photo session during our scheduled week then you can still get your photo in our directory by calling Lifetouch at 800-521-4611 and they will give you all the information for the closest church and the date to schedule a photo session, or you can submit a photo which will cost $10.

UMW Care Packages
The UMW are preparing Care Packages for anyone who has a family member in the military or going to college or advance schooling. We need these names and addresses as soon as possible, contact the church office or Kathy Adams at We do not want to miss sending them a care package. We need help filling these care packages. We no longer need shoe boxes but an insert has been provided with a list of items that every student and service member would appreciate. There is a containers downstairs by the elevator and one upstairs under the coat rack for contributions. Thanks for your help.!

Aluminum to Brass
collection for recycling aluminum cans. Thank you for your continued support in our "Aluminum to Brass" ministry to help fund the music programs. The truck will be available next Sunday, October 5th. You are welcome to drop them at my house or bring them on Wednesday nights. God bless, Jacquetta Owen.

Support SCUMC Preschool
Provided for your convenience will be an insert so that you can sign-up for the Martin's A+ Rewards program. Every time you shop at a Martin's grocery store with your BONUSCARD you will be helping the preschool earn cash! After you fill it out just place it in the offering plate or the basket located in the Gathering Area.

Food Pantry Food Drive
The SCUMC will be holding a food drive for our food pantry beginning Sunday, Oct. 5th, World Communion Sunday.[Needed items are: cereal, boxed potatoes, pastas, rice, peanut butter, canned meats; (tuna, corned beef hash, chicken, ham, vienna sausages) soups, dish detergent, soap, toilet paper.] We also would like to be able to offer homeless/transient people a backpack full of items.] Therefore if you're willing to give backpacks and can openers that would be greatly appreciated also. Containers will be at the Back Door and in the Gathering Area.

Open House for Food Pantry
On Oct. 12th the food pantry will have an Open House for those of you who may not know where the food pantry is and will be given more information about what we distribute. Thanks to many in the church who have continually supported the food pantry over the years! It truly is a miracle that we are able to accomplish what we do. It can only happen with the support of our congregation and the community. As they say "It takes a village".

UMW Information-Oct 14
Meeting at 6:30pm UMW will be making and sending care packages for college students and service members. Notice the time change as there is a charge conference at 7PM.

SCUMC Preschool Spirit Night
SCUMC Preschool Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A - Come out and join us on Tuesday, October 14th from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Chick-fil-A on Pleasant Valley Road in Winchester. Everyone is invited to attend this special event. A portion of the proceeds will go to SCUMC Preschool.

Just4Kidz is in need of volunteers
Help is needed on Mondays and Wednesday and on early dismissal days. The Monday/Wednesday help is needed from 3:45-6:00 and the early dismissal help is needed from 1:30-3:45. Someone to do this on a weekly basis would be great but if you can only help once or twice a month that would be good too.

Emergency Fund
Homemade jams made by Deborah Phillips are now being sold with proceeds going to the emergency fund. Flavors include peach, blueberry, strawberry, and cherry at a suggested price of $4/jar. (Also, if anyone has empty jam jars, I would love to have them.) A donation going to the emergency fund is being asked for the Aloe plants.

Music Sign-Up
Sign-up sheets for the 2014-15 VOCAL and BELL choirs are located on the bulletin board beside the nursery! Looking forward to great year of Excellent Sacred Music!!...Also, congratulations to the Paramount Winds Quintet (principal members of the Symphony of the Valley) for the great concert Sunday, August 10!

Adult Sunday School
Adult Sunday School - "True Spirituality" is being held in room 102. This is a 13 week study, one week intro and 12 weeks video series by Chip Ingram. Fred Fonville has a few copies of the study guide left and there is also a book by the same title. This is a study on the Christian life based on Romans 12, which Chip sees as a summary of the first 11 chapters of Romans. Dale Sigler will be facilitating the class. Come join us!

Pastor's Bible Study
"The Book of Acts" - beginning Wednesday, September 3rd which will continue throughout the school year. There will be two identical sessions: one at 10:00 am (room 200) and one at 6:00 pm (room 213). Each class will include video and lecture portions to help all understand the scripture lesson. This is open to all members and guests.

Part time positions- Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter is accepting applications for Night Managers for our Nov 10, 2014 - Mar 30, 2015 season. Experience working with homeless adults and emergency response desirable but not required. Current valid driver's license, reliable transportation to and from work and background check are required. WATTS Positions
The Frederick County Parks and Recreation has chosen WATTS to be the sole beneficiary of a Half Marathon which will be staged over the November 7th weekend. Registration will start in the evening of November 7 at the Family Sports Center across from Gander Mountain and the events will be on Saturday, November 8th. You have probably seen the banners around town, for the Battlefield Half because the start and finish is associated with the Kernstown Battlefield. Facility/Room Request
A Friendly Reminder - Any time there is a need to use the facility for any reason, a request form is to be filled-out in advance, put in the admin box (on the secretary's desk) to be approved by the Trustees, then pencilled in on the office calendar and input on the webpage calendar.

Kitchen Clean-up
With the many groups in our Church that utilize our kitchen, the Trustees ask that you share in the cleaning and maintenance of it. The Trustees are asking that groups of 3, 4, or more people work together to get this much needed job accomplished once a month. UMW Information
UMW Phoebe Circle - meets the 4th Thursday of the month at 12:30pm in room 102. Bring a sandwich/salad the rest will be provided including a program. First timers always welcome. Call Pat Konschak at 869-1384 for more information. Hope to see you there!

Preschool Applications
Preschool applications are being accepted for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year for 3-year-old and 4-year-old children. Please pick up an application in the church Gathering Area or go to the online registration on SCUMC website. The preschool offers 2, 3, 4 and 5 day programs. A music program has been added to the preschool curriculum. Students also attend chapel with Pastor Bob. Please contact the preschool office at 540-869-1368 or if you have questions.
